# Rakumux

> Run every coding agent side by side in one terminal, and see what each one is doing.

Rakumux is a terminal session manager built for developers who run coding agents. Run Claude Code,
Codex, OpenCode, Pi, dev servers and shells side by side, each in its own **session**. A small
background server owns your terminals, so they keep running when you close the UI, quit your
terminal or lose an SSH connection, and they come back after a reboot.

![Rakumux in a terminal: the session list with each session's worktree and branch, a live Claude Code session, and the Feed on the right](https://mintcdn.com/human-unsupervised-pty-ltd/0vQlovgyyhEkGszX/images/rakumux-screenshot.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=0vQlovgyyhEkGszX\&q=85\&s=be8bc1c6d2120f5cd0f90f04a248b244)

楽 (*raku*) means easy, and read *gaku* it means music: tmux, made easy.

## Why developers use it

> **[Run many agents at once](https://rakumux.com/docs/workflows/parallel-agents.md)**
>
> Give each task its own agent, in its own folder or worktree, and keep them all running while you
> work on something else.

> **[Know which agent needs you](https://rakumux.com/docs/guides/session-list.md)**
>
> The list opens on **Status**: agents waiting for your answer first, then replies you haven't
> read, then the ones still working.

> **[Sessions named for their task](https://rakumux.com/docs/account/ai-titles.md)**
>
> Signed in, each agent session gets a short AI title from what you asked it, like **Fix flaky
> login test**.

> **[Sessions outlive the window](https://rakumux.com/docs/concepts.md)**
>
> Quit, disconnect or reboot: agents keep working, and Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode come back
> in the same conversation.

> **[Work from anywhere](https://rakumux.com/docs/remote.md)**
>
> Run agents on a remote machine so they keep working while your laptop sleeps, and pick them up
> from any SSH login or your phone.

> **[Let agents use it too](https://rakumux.com/docs/workflows/agents-using-rakumux.md)**
>
> An MCP server, a JSON command line and a local HTTP API let agents and scripts start, read and
> watch sessions.

## How it feels

* **One key, no collisions.** Your programs keep every key but one: `Ctrl-\` switches between a
session and Rakumux. In Rakumux, `j`/`k` move through the sessions and each one plays live beside
  the list.
* **Nothing to manage.** A session is just a folder and a terminal. Rakumux never runs `git` or
creates worktrees for you; it reads each session's branch, follows the worktree its agent is
working in, and lists every checkout it changed.
* **Answer from anywhere.** The [Feed](https://rakumux.com/docs/account/feed.md) beside your sessions has every agent's finished
turns, from every machine; write back there or on rakumux.com, with a screenshot if you like.
* **Many windows, one set of sessions.** Open Rakumux in several terminals, or over SSH and on your
phone at the same time: they all show the same sessions, live.

Rakumux is open source under the
[Apache-2.0 license](https://github.com/humanunsupervised/rakumux/blob/main/LICENSE). It runs on
macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Linux x64. Everything works without an account; signing in adds
optional [AI session titles](https://rakumux.com/docs/account/ai-titles.md) and the [agent feed](https://rakumux.com/docs/account/feed.md).
